Should You Serve Alcohol At Your Wedding?
The food at the wedding is, in my opinion, critical. As a wedding guest, I care more about what I am eating than I do about the bride’s dress. Call me greedy, but I like a good meal. And, more importantly, I like it to be washed down with a good drink. The last wedding I went to served punch. That did not jive well with my taste buds. However, it was not my wedding, so I guess I could not really complain. However, when I am planning my wedding I will take into consideration the drink menu – particularly, should wine be served?
If you have the budget for wine, than go for it. However, a lot of people go without alcohol because of the cost. Often, the alcohol will cost as much per person as the food. If you do not want to go without it, but you want to keep within your budget, be creative.
Ask the venue if you can bring your own wine. You could also serve cheaper alcohol. And, if you are buying alcohol mainly for your friends to abuse you for a free night of drinking, consider going without it. Lastly, if you do have alcohol, respect those who prefer not to drink alcohol.
How To Ask Friends And Family To Help Out With Planning
Although your wedding day may be the biggest day of your life, it is also a very big day for those who are close to you. Your family and friends are extremely excited about the momentous occasion that is about to occur. For this reason, many couples decide to involve their family and friends in the wedding. Here are some ways that allow your family and friends to help out with the planning and/or be involved in the big day.
• Ask them to be a part of the bridal party. Friends can be bridesmaids and groomsmen. So can future sister-in-laws and future brother-in-laws.
• Have some of the families and friends serve as the ushers before the ceremony. They can gather people’s coats and escort them to their seats.
• Someone can be in charge of passing out programs and greeting the guests.
• One of your friends could give a reading during the ceremony. They could read a poem or a personal story.
• Invite someone to sing at the ceremony or reception. Also, consider having more than just the best man and maid of honor give toasts.
• Make sure to include the entire bridal party in the planning of the wedding. Get their feedback.
Time Of Year Will Affect Your Wedding Planning
Sometimes, the more I read about planning a wedding, the more I think maybe I will just elope. It would be so much easier. However, it most likely would not be worth it. So, instead I remember to be smart and plan ahead. This is particularly important when it comes to the timing of your wedding.
Usually after you get engaged, you will set a date. Often, there is a tendency to put off the planning for a while because the date is so far in advance. However, keep in mind certain months are particularly busy wedding months.
For example, if your wedding date falls in the months of April, May, June, or October, than it will be particularly important to plan ahead – especially if your wedding is on a Saturday. During these months, many people usually get married mostly because the weather is pretty good. All of the wedding vendors are usually booked a year out during these time periods. So, call them and get your date booked as soon as you know what you want. This way you know what is planned for the big day and you can relax until it comes! Start scheduling today so you do not lose out.
The Right Colors For Your Wedding
With so many colors out there today, how do you decide which ones to use in your wedding color scheme? For some, this is an easier decision than others. The people who can easily determine their color scheme might be more artistically skilled. However, if you were not blessed with artistic vision that does not mean that your wedding will not look beautiful. There are some simple things you can do to make sure that your wedding flows visually and at the same time is reflective of your style.
If you are not sure about colors, a good place to start might be with flowers. Look for flowers that you like that are in season and see what colors they come in. Also, you can also think about choosing colors that you personally like the wear or that you use to decorate your home with. Another option is to pick colors based off the current season.
Most weddings tend to have one dominant color and two accent colors. However, there are some people who prefer to use a monochromatic color scheme. When this is done, everything is in the same color, just different shades. Once you have selected the right color, you can decide how to accent with it. Have fun with it and express yourself.
