332909_pure_whiteIn Sophie Kinsella’s popular novel, “Shopaholic Ties the Knot”, Becky Bloomwood, the main character embarks on her first wedding dress shopping experience. As she walks into the shop, the saleslady welcomes her and sales that at their shop, “You do not choose your dress.” Her friend Suze interjects and finishes the sentence saying that the dress chooses you. The saleslady gets extremely flustered and says that is not right. Actually, “You meet your dress.”

So, if you are currently shopping for a wedding dress like Becky was, remember that you are looking to “meet your dress” – much like you met your future spouse. And, picking the perfect dress is going to require you to have a list of qualifications that your dress should meet, just like your future husband had to meet a list.

So what should be on this list of qualifications? The essentials of your perfect dress are not always mutually exclusive with your qualifications. However, if you have a list, you will be able to come close to finding a great dress for your perfect day. Keep in mind how much you want to spend. Also, what are you going to wear with the dress? Then, look for a style you like and go from there. Good luck!

The Wedding Veil; As Versatile As It Is Romantic

The wedding veil is a matrimonial symbol which is rooted in superstition and romance. Tradition has it that it may be a bad omen to the couple if the groom views his bride in a wedding gown right before the ceremony; hence, the veil was used to conceal the bride’s face. The lifting of the bridal veil by the groom is also a much-anticipated moment, awaited by everyone in attendance as an ushering symbol of the couple’s married life together. Since there is this much emphasis on the veil as a wedding garment, naturally there would be a variety of these to be opted for, differing in lengths and styles, but with the same purpose; to conceal the bride before the groom makes his move for the kiss.

The Well-Shod Bride

I’ll be wearing a floor-length wedding gown, so my shoe style can be negligible, is what most brides will think once confronted with other nitty gritties of preparing for their big day.

Not a good idea, ladies. As with most important occasions that will grace your life, every little detail counts, and that includes the pair of footwear you’ll be encasing your dainty bridal tootsies in. Always keep in mind that you’ll be on your feet for the most part of the wedding reception, as well as during a sizable chunk of the nuptial itself. Well-shod feet are the key to a comfortable, graceful, on-her-toes bride. Shoes can also round off a bridal ensemble perfectly. The secret is to coordinate with and stick to your chosen theme or motif, and to always consider the length, width, and shape of your feet (including the arches) early on.

Preparing to Shop for the Bridal Gown

With all the expenses that go with the preparations for the wedding, you are probably looking for ways to ease some of the pinch in your tight budget. And, being a woman, the last thing that you probably want to scrimp on is with your wedding dress, right? You want to be beautiful when you walk down the aisle, and you won’t achieve that effect unless you invest on a custom-fitted dress. But unless you intend to use the dress for future occasions (god forbid!), or you want to pass it on to posterity, you will probably be better off if you look for cheaper, alternative ways of financing the gown. Fortunately, you can obtain a beautiful dress from unconventional sources.
