Watching The Weather: Plan For Your Wedding Day Festivities
One of my really good friends planned her wedding in the backyard of her parent’s house. It was a beautiful setting – very romantic. However, for the few weeks leading up to the wedding it rained nonstop. The sun did not shine. It was uncharacteristic of the time and everyone was very worried that the wedding was going to be ruined. Lucky for her, the day of her wedding, the sun finally peaked through the clouds. It was beautiful. There were no clouds in sight and at night you could see the stars. However, what would she have done had things been different? What if the weather had not changed and the rain continued to pour?
When you are planning an outdoor wedding you need to take into consideration the weather. Your first priority should be to keep your guests comfortable. Make sure that you have a contingency plan in case the weather does turn sour. And, watch the weather so you can better plan for an alternative. Make sure this plan is solid and do not be upset about it. Instead, roll with it.
Also, check with the caterer about the possible need to change the food. Indoor food may differ from outdoor food. Hopefully you will not have to worry about your contingency plan, but it is always wise to have a backup.
