Should The Bride Have “Going Away Attire?”

To answer the question simply: it’s up to the bride!

Traditionally, starting years ago the bride always had a going away outfit or suit. After changing, the bride and groom would disappear. This tradition is slowly fading away but the general idea is welcomed by many.

Research has shown that 71% of women are unwilling to sacrifice comfort for fashion. Therefore, many brides are choosing a more comfortable outfit (not a suit) to wear after getting out of their gown. Of course, if you have a less extravagant gown and a comfortable one, you may not have to worry. Many brides choose to change after the cake cutting into more relaxed attire. This way they can have more fun with the guests and enjoy the reception.

Remember two things while choosing another outfit. First, make sure it’s still a little more special since a bride should always look especially beautiful on her wedding day. Not to mention, your new husband will appreciate it. Second, make sure it’s comfortable. The whole idea is to be able to get out of the wedding gown and relax with your friends and family.

If you are departing for your honeymoon the next morning, then you can change into basically anything you desire. If your honeymoon destination is in a warm climate, choose accordingly. For instance, if you are going to Hawaii, wear a bright floral pattern sundress. Wear something that travels well and that is comfortable. You don’t want to be fussing over your dress or outfit; you want to be enjoying your first whole day together as husband and wife while still looking your best.

Of course, if you are going on a honeymoon close by, there may be no need for another outfit. Just get to your destination and change out of your gown into appropriate attire.
