The Right Window Frames: Shaping Your Eyebrows

If your eyes are the window to your soul, then your eyebrows are their frames. Just as windows look more beautiful with the right window frames, your eyes could look absolutely captivating with properly shaped eyebrows. The perfect arch can open up your eyes and the right shape can wrought very subtle yet highly effective changes in your overall appearance.

Eyebrows Fashion Basics

Soft feathered eyebrows are in and thin single-liner eyebrows are out. Very thin eyebrows will make you look mean and cruel. Your eyebrows should also be spaced right for too narrow a space between them may give you a pinched and cross-eyed look, and too wide a space could likewise give the impression of a big nose and a wall-eyed look.

Do It Yourself Eyebrows

About two months before your wedding day, let your eyebrows grow back so you’ll have plenty of material to work with. When you’re ready, get a trusty pair of tweezers. Tweezers are preferable to wax for it’s harder to make irreversible mistakes with the former than the latter.

Face a mirror and hold an upright pencil along the center of your nose. The point of intersection between the pencil and your brow bone should be marked as the beginning of your eyebrow. Without moving the base, shift the pencil to slant out until it passes just outside your iris, then mark the spot where the pencil intersects with your brow bone; this is where the arch should be. Shift the top end of the pencil again until it passes just outside the corner of your eye, then mark the spot on your brow bone that it intersects; this is the end of your eyebrow. Repeat these procedures for the other eyebrow.

Once you’re all marked up, get tweezing. Remove once piece of hair at a time. The general idea would be to make your eyebrow thicker at the beginning and let it gradually taper out to the end. It should gradually slant up and out until the arch after which it should slightly slant down. Take out some hair from topside if necessary but be careful about leaving gaps in your brows. You can trim your brows, too, but beware of cutting it too short for you might end up with bristly brows on your wedding day.

Leave It to the Expert

If you’re unsure about shaping your eyebrows yourself, you can get an eyebrow specialist to shape them for you. An expert will know exactly the right eyebrow shape for your eyes and face. You’re guaranteed perfectly eyebrows which you can easily maintain afterwards.
