The first thing to do when it comes to effective budgeting is to actually create a budget. Then, you need to try your best to stick to it. Here are some helpful suggestions to help you stick to your budget.
• Put a system in place that will allow you to keep track of what you are spending. Make sure you keep separate your personal spending from wedding expenses.
• Prepare to go over. Set aside 5% of your budget just in case you do go over and you need last minute funds.
• Cut back where you can. You might only need 3 courses instead of 5. Or, you could invite fewer guests.
• Beware that people will try to up sell you. Know what you want in advance and avoid this.
• Cut back in other areas so that you can put more money into your wedding fund.
